Een school maandag vanuit Thailand

Op maandag start hier de week. En dat betekend naar school. Ik ga naar Thaise les bij Easy Thai met Lerares Mint. Toen wij begonnen met de lessen had ze een klein huisje met 1 klaslokaal. Ondertussen zijn er dus zoveel aanmeldingen geweest dat ze moest uitbreiden naar een groter pand. En heeft ze nu een appartement met 3 verdiepingen gekocht. Het is niet zo dat je je inschrijft en direct kan beginnen. Je moet je visa omzetten naar een EDU Visa Non Immigrant. Dit alles moet ook op tijd aangevraagd worden, voordat je toeristen stempel in je paspoort verloopt, want anders moet je nog een borderrun doen als je geen verlening van 30 dagen kan kopen (omdat je die al heb gekocht). Dit alles brengt kosten met zich mee voor je Visa en voor school. Je moet al gauw rekening houden dat je hier gemiddeld € 2000 euro aan kwijt bent.   

Terug naar de maandag. Gemiddeld wordt ik tussen 6:00 uur en 7:00 uur wakker. En anders hebben we de honden die wel zorgen dat ik uit bed moet, want ze willen hun ronde. In de ochtend ga ik altijd met de honden lopen. En nemen we wat basis commando`s door, want ook al zijn het zwerfhonden, ze hebben een perfecte leeftijd om goede huisdieren te zijn en een goede basis is belangrijk voor de toekomst. 

Daarna even lekker een bak koffie en naar school. We hebben een kleine (8 totaal) zeer leuke en diverse klas. Allemaal verschillende nationaliteiten en op de een of andere manier is de klik onderling vertrouwd. De sfeer is goed en ook buiten school om zien we elkaar en hebben we contact.

De lessen zijn leuk, het is wel hard werken. Want de stof is in het Engels het spreken is Engels en Thais, maar de vertaling/betekenissen ook in het Engels en Thais. En in mijn hoofd gaat het vaak ook in het Nederlands. Dus zodoende doe ik mijn Thaise lessen eigenlijk altijd uitwerken in het Engels/Thais en Nederlands. De letterlijke vertalingen die we online opzoeken of d.m.v. apps, kloppen vaak niet en er zit ook niet altijd een logica in de vertaling. Echter door middel van school begrijp ik wel de opbouw en moet je soms het gewoon wat makkelijker maken voor jezelf. 

Ik zal proberen, als jullie dat leuk vinden om elke week een kleine basis les hier te posten voor degene die naar Thailand gaan reizen, het interessant vinden of om welke reden dan ook gewoon leuk vinden om te lezen.

De woorden Kha/Khrap zijn afhankelijk van het geslacht. Kha is vrouwelijk en Khrap is mannelijk en dit is eigenlijk een beleefdheidsvorm (woord/klank).De schrijftaal welke ik gebruik is Karaoke thai ( Fa-rang Thai). Het woord Fa-rang (forgeiner) is afgeleid van de Franse, zij waren namelijk als eerste in Thailand (blonde haren/blauwe ogen) en zij konden frances niet uitspreken en zo is het woord eigenlijk onstaan. De Thaise mensen gebruiken het zeker niet als een scheldwoord en je bent ook niet minder als je een fa-rang bent. Het betekend puur dat je niet aziatisch bent. (blond/bruin/oranje haar lichte ogen).

In Thailand, schudden ze geen handen, knuffelen ze niet, zoenen ze niet. Nee de Thaise mensen maken een handgebaar genoemd de "waay en zeggen de woorden Sa wat dii kha/khrap

Easy Thai Language School

My week starts on monday, and that means going to school.

The school is called Easy Thai and my teacher's named is Mint.

When we started in November 2022, it was a small 3-room house converted into a school with 1 class-room.

There has been so many applications for lessons lately that she had to expand to a 3 story appartment just along the road.

It's not like that you can start right away once you signed in. You have to change your current Visa to a EDU visa non-immigrant.

This process has to be started in time or atleast right after you land in Thailand for the first time, or right after your first extension. 

I had to do a border-run to Malaysia because the immigrant officer needed at least 2 weeks to make the paperwork in order. My extension stamp expired within those 2 weeks so he advised me to leave the country and come back.

All of this also costs money.

Including the border-runs andchool fee's this will sum up to a average of €2000,00.

Back to monday.

usually i wake up between 06:00/07:00AM. If not, the dogs will make sure i have to get out because they want to go out.

So my first routine is to get out and walk with the boys, wich they enjoy very much.

This is also a perfect time for me to train them basic commands.

They might be stray-animals when we found them, but they are at the perfect age to learn tue basics. What's also very important for the future.

After that a nice cup of coffee and then saddle up for school.

I enjoy my small class(8 persons) wich consists of all diffrent nationalities and cultures but somehow there is a mutual bond. 

The vibes feel good and we also hang out, or atleast try to, after school.

The lessons are fun and enjoyable, but you'll have to work hard. or atleast i do.

All the lessons are in English and Thai, but the translations are also in English and Thai. And in my head it also translates to Dutch.

Thus i work it out in Thai, English and Dutch.

The Thai language consists of no western logic when it comes to translation. Translation apps mostly don't really work. Mainly because of sentence structure.

By following lessons i understand more and more about the language and sometimes you just have to make things easier for yourself.

I will try, if you would like that, to give a little Thai-101 every week. Might be helpfull for the ones who are going to travel to Thailand. Or if you just find it intresting for whatever reason.

The words Kha and Khap wich you will frequently hear after every sentence is divided by male and female. The Female says Kha and the Male says Khap. This word is more of a politeness.

De writing Language i'm using is called "Karaoke Thai" (Fa-rang Thai). The word Fa-rang originates from the french.

They were one of the first in Thailand (Blue eyes, Blonde hair) and the Thai people couldn't really pronounce the word Frances. Mainly because of the R. You will hear Fa-lang for example.

There is a misconception that the Thai people use the word Fa-rang as a curseword. Now there might be a few exeptions, but it solely means you'r not from asia.

In Thailand they don't shake hands, hugg or kiss in public. Instead, they use a handgesture that is called "waay".

Now there are 3 stages of the waay, the higher you put your hands, the more respect you have for the other. (elder or monk). it also joined with the sentence "Sa-wat-dii Kha"(Female)
